Brooklyn, New York
The Adirondack Heats
baseball team vanquished the New York Swing Away Starz team behind
outstanding defense of #3-Luke Gold and #24 Jaia Benson
behind the plate. With excellent pitching of#13-Alex
Fredericks -4 innings 3 K’s and #48-Connor Farrington -3
innings 4K’s and timely hitting of #28 Christian Italiano (2
for 4, 2 RBIs), #21-Jake Fox (2 for 5, 2RBIs), #12-Ryan
Munro (1 for 3, RBI), #4-Geordan Buffoline (1 for 3, RBI),
#7-Steven Pastore (1 for 3) and #Cory Listing (1 or 1, RBI),
the Starz baseball team was no match.
The Heats assumed control of the baseball game
in their first at bat. However, the Starz answered right at
the bottom of that same inning. But, the Heats refused to
relinquished their lead as they answered back with three
more runs and never looked back to the resilient Starz who
refused to quit on a triple blast by #2-Connor Hamilton and
towering double by #18-Riley Sperati that would have cleared
any little league baseball field fence by 75 feet.
Although John Roden, Head Coach of the NY Swing
Away Starz, finished Runner-Up in the 2012 PONY Bronco-12U
at Bergen Beach, he was satisfied with the way his players
played the baseball game. He hopes the Brooklyn competition
will help his Starz fare well in Cooperstown next week.
As for Mike Fox, Head Coach Adirondack Heats,
2012 PONY Bronco 12U Baseball NE Regional Champions, his
third trip in Brooklyn was no different. He ended up as the
champion after each trip one in AABC, twice in PONY. The
Heats will head for Pittsburgh to compete in the PONY Zone,
where he is likely to win to make his second trip at the
PONY Bronco Baseball World Series. AMAMAT wishes him and his
baseball crew the best of luck!
