Coach Bill Daly Takes the Xaverian Junior Varsity Gold to another CHSAA Championship

St. John's University, May 30, 2008. Coach Bill Daly Takes the Xaverian Junior Varsity Gold to another CHSAA Championship. What so amazing about it, it's that the 2008 Xaverian JV baseball team went undefeated in its 2008 season.

A very modest Coach Daly refuses to talk about the success that he has brought to Xaverian. Instead, he tends to focus on his ball players playing varsity baseball on their way to a very successful college life. I am sure that he has seen many of his past baseball players turning successful.

Daly’s approach to his baseball players seems to be that of grand’ father/big brother approach. So, they love him, respect him as much as they look for guidance from him, a coach who has guided Xaverian to many successful seasons.  And, this season is added to the many others with an additional accent, a “Perfect Season.”

The baseball players of St. Joseph by the Sea High School of Staten Island, with all their hearts, came out fighting to insure that their 2008 Junior Varsity baseball team would be the 2007/2008 New York Giants football team that excluded the 2007/2008 New England Patriots from engraving their names in the book of “Perfect Season.”  So, they did for eight innings at St. John’s University, almost, that is.

Determined for his Vikings not to be second best in this 2008 Catholic High Schools Athletic Association Junior Varsity “A” Division Championship, Head Coach, Nelson Ortiz, fielded his best, headed by Joe Tripodi (#20), St. Joe’s number one motivator.

And, for eight innings, the Vikings fought hard to the point of almost sinking the Clippers, however, the mighty ship of Coach Daly remained afloat to complete the perfect journey of a perfect season.
