The Brooklyn Bonnie Seals head
coach, Norris Gordon, objective was as ambitious as Coach
Signore. However, Coach Gordon wanted to make sure that the 2009
11Year Old World Series winners trophies would stay in Brooklyn
by reserving his closer, #3, Nick Candelario, the six feet tower
of wonder of an eleven year old boy, for the late inning.
Candelario was unhittable, as not too many batters could get
around his pitches.

The night before, the six-foot eleven year old boy,
Candelario, was the winner in the elimination of the Spring
Creek White Sox, a team combined of the Sox and the Youth
Service League's four top picks to participate in the 2009 11
Year Old World Series. The game lasted nine innings, where the
Bonnies won it at the bottom of the ninth.
Earlier, in the championship game, the
Bonnie Seals lost their starting 3rd baseman, Lorenzo Legares
due to illness. As a result, Coach Gordon had to make
adjustments, which the Connecticut Bombers took advantage, of.
After Candelario defused the first three
Connecticut Bombers he faced in the 3rd inning, the Bombers
looked to be as vulnerable as when they faced the White Sox in
their first loss of the World Series. However, Coach Signore
changed to his planned strategies by playing small ball, as
opposed to trying to hit Candelario. And, the strategies paid.
Throughout the tournament at the (OLGAA),
the Bonnie Seals have been known to give up leads to come back
and win their games, except, of course, during their first loss
to the Maryland Bombers on August 1st. The Bonnies were expected
to come back and win the 2009 World Series, as in the earlier
game of the Semifinal against the Maryland Bombers where the
Seals eliminated the Maryland Bombers in that fashion.
But, the Bombers from Connecticut wanted
to make sure that their target, the Brooklyn Bonnie Seals will
never comeback by bombarding Brooklyn with five runs in the
bottom of the 6th inning, assuring a Bonnies collapsing to make
certain the Bonnies could not come back to ever win again in
this 2009 AABC World Series at OLGAA.
With fine relief pitching from #12 Zach Ardito who climbed the mound
in the top of the 2nd inning, the Bombers were able to hold the
Brooklyn to only two additional runs since the three-run-blast
by King. However, with two out in the top of the 7th inning,
Coach Signore, bring his closer, #44, Jonathan Signore to finish
business and the Connecticut Bombers are crowned 2009 AABC Gil
Hodges 11 Year Old World Series Champions at the Our Lady of
Grace Gravesend Athletic Association.
