Brooklyn,
New York - The Our Lady of Grace
Gravesend Athletic Association
(OLGAA) - Mother Nature may have
delayed the Opening Day of the
2009 American Amateur Baseball
Congress (AABC) 11 Year Old Gil
Hodges World Series, however,
she could not overcome the
efforts of the dedicated men and
women of the Our Lady of Grace
Gravesend Athletic Association
Gil Hodges Little League
Organization from making the
2009 World Series a success.
It all started on Thursday, July
30, 2009, in the Our Lady of
Grace Church basement, where the
managers and the official of
AABC/OLGAA meet at 2:00 p.m.,
New York City time and presented
their rosters. We took a
few pictures.-
take a look -to show you.
Then, at 7:30 p.m., OLGAA hosted
one of their best pre World
Series dinner at St. Columba,
where all the teams got a chance
to meet each other to have fun,
introducing themselves, eat all
they could, exchange teams pins,
take pictures - and I mean a lot
of pictures -
take a look and just have
good old 11 year olds kind of funs.,
ready to open on Friday morning,
July 31, 2009.
But, just a few
hours before opening, Mother
Nature dropped nothing but curve
balls on the baseball field,
that the very dedicated people
were overwhelmed by the
wet baseball fields that they
had to postponed opening day
until the next month.
The dedicated Grace crew set the
fields to dry up for August 1, 2009,
but Mother Nature said, as always,
"You can't fool with Mother Nature,"
and dumped more rain on Brooklyn's
most needed baseball fields.
That did not stop the crew who
wanted to make the 2009 AABC 11 Year
Old Worlds Series one of the best to
remember in the year of the 50th
Anniversary of OLGAA. So, pushing
the games back by an hour or so,
they patched up the fields and got
them ready to "play ball," and the
2009 American Amateur Baseball
Congress 11 Year Old Gild Hodges
World Series started and successful
celebration of the 50th Anniversary
of OLGAA continues, with joy.
More to come. |
