05.22.08 Game 2 Molloy @ St. Francis -2008 CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens Softball Championship Game at Floyd Bennett Field -Brooklyn, New York. DVD for sale Clear copy of game 1 and game 2 on one DVD..

If there was a Most Valuable Player, Krystil Hofmann (#8)would have my vote, for the young  St. Francis Lady Terriers pitcher was amazing, both on the mound and at the plate at the Floyd Bennett Field on May 22, 2008.

Having earned the victory in the first game of today’s’ double header, Hofmann climbed the mound in the second game to help her team defeating the Lady Stanners of Molloy. She pitched the first three inning of the second game. Aside from doing a great job pitching against  a very good hitting Archbishop Molloy team, Krystil went three for four, as she hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Her third hit, a double, came in the sixth inning. She later scored on a two RBI single by Joahanna Rice (#21).

The lady Stanners made the game very interesting in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two runs of their own on Rice. They went on to tie the game in their top seventh inning. However, having home advantage, Coach Ann Marie Rich profited the occasion to capitalize on consecutive singles by #32 and Bianca Pappas (#40). Having had her pinch hitter stroke out and her forth batter grounded to a force play at third, Coach Rich felt relieved that the red-hot-hitting bat of Hofmann finally arrived at the plate. However, the final hero of the game would not be Krystil, as she took a walk on a ball four count pitch.

With bases full of Terriers, Pappas stood on third base ready for Rice to make contact at the plate, but there was no need for the bat to hit the ball, for Pappas would sprint toward home to slide and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

With the victory secured, the Lady Terriers of St. Francis are The 2008 Catholic High Schools Athletic Associations Brooklyn Queens Softball Champions. A championship that would assure them the right to advance to the New York State Semi final on Staten Island.
